About Mentoring

Ferradermis is always looking to improve on the different branches of the team. With mentors, each sub-team can have a person to ask questions and can gain better experience for the future.

“I want to share my experiences for the betterment of others.” – Mark Zimmermann (Mechanical Mentor)

“I mentor FRC because while I get to pass on engineering skills to the students and watch them grow, I get inspired by the creative solutions and energy the students have.” – Carissa Petzinger (Virtual Mentor)

“Watching our students learn and grow under the guidance of so many talented and generous mentors is incredible. Then watching those same students turn around and mentor the newer students is even more rewarding.” – Laura Masbruch (Head Mentor)

About The Marketing Internship Position

A pair of the school’s alumni have created an endowment fund for the team through the Whitewater Community Foundation. As a non-profit organization, the Community Foundation has access to a Google Ad Grant of up to $10,000 in free ad buys each month. The team is searching for a volunteer marketing intern to do the following:

  • Plan and assist in marketing and advertising efforts related to the Ferradermis endowment fund and other funds held by the Whitewater Community Foundation
  • Design and implement ad campaigns using Google Adwords
  • Manage, review, and report on ad performance
  • Build seasonal and event specific ad campaigns
  • Work with high school students to ensure necessary landing pages and content are created for the ad campaigns

Here’s why you’ll want this opportunity:

  • You get to manage a $10K/month Google Adwords account
  • Mentorship from a Google Marketer
  • You’ll gain experience that will set you apart from others in your program, gaining real-world experience running marketing campaigns, learning about the psychology of marketing, reporting on success metrics, and implementing conversion tracking.
  • Upon successful completion of the internship, you will also receive a letter of recommendation and personal LinkedIn endorsement

This is a part-time commitment which would NOT interfere with school work

Total time commitment would be roughly 5-10 hrs/week, including:

  • Weekly 30-minute mentoring sessions
  • Conversion tracking and keyword research
  • Analyzing data and making campaign recommendations
  • Creating and A/B testing new ad copy
  • Gathering weekly report metrics

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Coachable and willing to learn
  • Curious
  • Detail oriented with clear communication
  • Willing to document how they do things so future interns can benefit from their learnings
  • Has a “do first and ask for forgiveness later” attitude

About Robot Transportation

The team every year travels to multiple events to compete. The majority of the team and supplies take a bus to the destination, however the robot and the other tools in our road cases are unable to fit. We are looking for volunteers to provide a vehicle and/or driver to get the other tools and the robot to the destination safely without having the worry of weather.

Vehicles that can be used are:

  • U-Haul Truck
  • Truck and weatherproof, enclosed trailer
  • Or any other sort of enclosed vehicle to prevent rain or other weather from affecting the items

Volunteers who do not wish to drive the vehicle themselves may also donate use of the vehicle and one of our trusted adults can take the vehicle to the competition.
